Vocation Promotion Events and Activities

Once again, Joe Lingan, S.J., Director of Novices, and Vincent Sullivan, S.J., Rector of Ciszek Hall, generously offer their assistance to these efforts. The novices and men in First Studies are a great help! Vocation promotion events continue throughout the year. Please feel free to contact the Vocations office if you would like further information on any of the following at your local event:

Ads or Articles in Newspapers or Bulletins
Write an article or place an ad in the school newspaper or parish bulletin about Jesuit Vocations. (Print-ready artwork is available.)

Bulletin Boards
Decorate the school or parish bulletin boards with information on Jesuit Vocations.

Invite Men to Discern
Ask Jesuits and lay partners to submit names of men they consider would make good Jesuits. Send a letter to these men inviting them to consider such a vocation. Include some vocation materials in that letter.

Classroom Presentations and Discussions
Set aside classroom time to discuss Jesuit vocations. Invite a Jesuit (novice, scholastic, brother, priest) to speak to your class about his call and journey.

Host a Luncheon or Dinner
Invite men to the Jesuit residence for a tour, to listen to Jesuits tell their story, to have Eucharist and for lunch or dinner.

Vocational Discernment Group
Invite men to participate in a monthly discernment group following the CLC method for building faith communities.

Hearts on Fire
Purchase copies of the book Hearts on Fire and ask each Jesuit in the community to give one copy to a man he would like to invite to consider a possible Jesuit vocation.

Information Table
Provide an information table for Jesuit vocations at the apostolate. Invite Jesuits to visit throughout the day or evening. (Resources are available through the Vocations Office.)

Mass for Vocations
Schedule a special mass for vocations in the Jesuit community or at the apostolate.

Novena for Vocations
Invite a member of the community to participate in a novena for vocations.

Open House
Invite members of the Jesuit community to conduct tours of the Jesuit residence and apostolate.

School Morning Prayer
Begin the school day acknowledging Jesuit Vocation Promotion Day 2008 with a special prayer for vocations.

Service Day
Invite young men to participate in a day of service at a local Jesuit apostolate that has direct contact with the poor. Include a Eucharist, a meal and some time for group reflection.

Vocation Prayer Cards
Distribute vocation prayer cards to men connected to the apostolate. (Resources are available through the Vocations Office.)
