Ignatian Peace Action

Ignatian Peace Action

The Jesuit Commission on Social and International Ministries (JCSIM) has invited all Jesuit works and communities in the United States to join together in prayer and action for peace during the 50 days from Easter to Pentecost. This is a collective effort of the “Ignatian family” to give expression to our Easter hope of the possibility of a world made new.

WEEK ONE (3/28/08): Here is a link to the prayer card. You are invited to add this Prayer for Peace to your daily prayers.

WEEK TWO (4/4/08): Here is a link to a Prayer Service for Peace adapted from the Education for Justice website of the Center of Concern.

WEEK THREE (4/11/08): Sign the Humanitarian Plege for Iraqi Action Days, Apr. 14-16, in Washington, DC. Find out more about the sponsoring organizations. Learn about ongoing actvities of other Catholic social justice organizations such as Pax Christi USA.

WEEK FOUR (4/18/08): In honor of the Holy Father's visit to the United States, read Pope Benedict’s 2008 World Day of Peace Message, “The Human Family, A Community of Peace,” and consider making a personal vow of non-violence like the one offered by Pax Christi USA.

WEEK FIVE (4/25/08): May 3rd is the 25th anniversary of the U.S. Bishop's pastoral letter on war and peace entitled The Challenge of Peace: God's Promise and Our Response. Join the Ten Days in May campaign celebrating this this anniversary.

WEEK SIX (5/2/08): Sign the Statement of Conscience sponsored by the National Religious Campaign Against Torture. (U.S. Jesuit Conference is an endorsing member.)

WEEK SEVEN (5/9/08): Join the Sisters of Mercy in a Pentecost Peace Novena.
