Maryland & New York Provinces

We are pleased to announce that Father James M. Shea, SJ, Provincial of Maryland, has accepted the three men below into the Jesuit Novitiate of St. Andrew Hall, Syracuse, New York.

Entrance Day will be Saturday, August 22, 2009.

(Please note that the New England Province will announce the acceptance of its candidates after Entrance Day in August.)


Chris Grodecki

Christopher Grodecki
Washington, DC
Chris, 26, is a staff writer at the Institute for Justice, a non-profit public interest law firm.  Originally from Winnetka, IL, a suburb of Chicago, Chris attended Georgetown University, where he received a B.A. in English and German and an M.A. in German.  He has worked as a research assistant at Georgetown and was an organizing member of St. Matthew's Cathedral young adult leadership program.  His other interests include reading, music and playing the piano.  (MAR)

Adam Rosinski

Adam Z. Rosinski
Philadelphia, PA
Adam, 24, is a 2007 graduate of Scranton University with a double B.A. in theology/religious studies and counseling/human services.  He was born and raised in Wyncote, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia, and attended Bishop McDevitt High School.  Adam most recently taught theology at Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Flourtown, PA, and has also worked in the youth ministry program at his home parish and as a ministry student assistant at the University of Scranton. Adam enjoys fishing and all Philadelphia sports teams.  (MAR)

Gilbert Stockson

Gilbert Stockson
Reading, PA
Gil, 29, recently completed a Master of Theological Studies degree at Notre Dame University.  Originally from Reading, PA, Gil graduated from Reading Central Catholic High School and received a B.A. in history and economics from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.  Gil worked at Orion Consultants in New York City for three years and then as a Lasallian Volunteer in Portland, OR for two years.  His other interests include reading, running and soccer.  (MAR)
